1904 | ![]() Sydney Spence of Sleaford, Lincolnshire, well known to the London stage and the wider theatrical world, literally brought the Theatre Royal to Glossop in December 1904, on the back of a freight steam train from it former home in Hucknall Torkard near Nottingham. The building was a prefabricated wooden structure with a corrugated iron roof and was quickly erected on what is now the car park off Victoria Street next to the market.
